Tomlin pitches Huskies past Rhinebeck
Hunter Tomlin threw five innings of one-run baseball with five strikeouts, leading the Highland Huskies to a 5-1 Mid Hudson Athletic League Division III victory over the Rhinebeck Hawks on April 15.

Preston Ebert doubled and drove in two runs, and Logan Ellison had two hits, including a double and an RBI.

The Huskies (4-2, 4-1 MHAL) followed with a 6-0 loss to the Spackenkill Spartans on Wednesday and then pounded the Ellenville Blue Devils, 32-0, on Friday.

Highland sweeps Wallkill in tennis
Liam VanValkenburgh, Teddy Druttman and Michael Duncan all posted singles wins, leading the Highland boys’ tennis team to a 5-0 win over the Wallkill Panthers on April 16 at Tony Williams Park in Highland.

Van Valkenburgh beat Tyler Depuy, 6-1, 6-0, Druttman beat Trevor Strano, 7-5, 6-4; and Duncan defeated Aidan Bowland, 6-1, 6-3.

Zach Haeser and Logan Carle beat Ryan Seal and Ben Kurpick, 6-0, 6-2, and Andrew Lamark and Kieran Surprise defeated Liam Pickard and Thomas Bruce, 6-1, 6-1.

The Huskies opened the week with a 3-2 win over the Rhinebeck Hawks.

Druttman posted the Huskies’ only singles win with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over Spencer Firestone.

Haeser and Carle beat Ezra Steinman and Keillor Cherrits, 6-0, 6-3; and Lamark and Surprise beat Sophie Derman and Nash Roberts, 6-2, 6-0.

Huskies top Nanuet in boys’ lacrosse

Carson Palmer, Luke Weie and Mark Cureton had three goals each, leading the Highland Huskies to a 15-6 win over Nanuet in a non-league boys’ lacrosse game on Saturday.

Ben Yager scored two goals and an assist, while Logan Davis had two goals and one assist. Trevor Coates scored one goal with three assists, and Tomas Almodovar had a goal.

Kamrin Doyle had an assist, and Landon Zehr made 21 saves.

The Huskies opened the week with a 7-4 win over Saugerties on April 16.

Coates had two goals and an assist, and Weise added two goals. Davis and Palmer each had a goal and an assist, while Doyle had a goal. Cureton also added an assist.

Zehr made 13 saves for the Huskies (7-1, 2-0 Division III).

Marlboro boys and girls beat Highland

The Marlboro boys’ and girls’ track and field teams beat the Highland Huskies on Wednesday at Marlboro High School.

The Marlboro boys’ won, 97-40.

Jaiden Sawyer (400-meter hurdles, 100-meter hurdles), Chris Jackson (800-meter run), Daniel Maher (200-meter dash, 100-meter dash), Jordan Reyes (3,200-meter run), Jayden Vandervort (high jump), Nnadozie Okasi (long jump, triple jump), Zach Morales (discus), Lex Antonelli (shot put), and Sean Robertson (pole vault) picked up wins for Marlboro.

Cameron Adoma (1,600-meter run) and Basil Metz (400-meter dash) won events for Highland.

The Iron Dukes won the 1,600- and 400-meter relays, while the Huskies won the 3,200-meter relay.

The Marlboro girls’ team beat Highland, 79-35.

Fallon Grace (100-meter dash), Andrea Kuha (1,500-meter run), Chloe Gaer (200-meter dash), Stella Delfini (long jump, triple jump), Victoria Maher (discus), Julianna Juras (shot put), and Timber Jackson (pole vault) had wins for Marlboro.

Ava LaValle (400-meter dash), Armani Earley (100-meter hurdles), Abigail Redner (800-meter run, high jump), and Rylie Klein (3,000-meter run) won events for Highland.

Marlboro won the 400-meter relay and Highland won the 3,200-meter relay.
