Huskies close out baseball season with 12-8 record
Dan Collins hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning, helping the second-seeded Spackenkill Spartans to a 9-1 win over No. 3 Highland in a Section 9 Class B semifinal baseball game at Spackenkill High School.

Linus Oudom had to hits, including a double, scored three runs and drove in a run. On the mound, he allowed a run on two hits in five innings of work. Collins threw two scoreless innings.

Dylan Boenig had two hits, including a double and a run scored, and Bryant Hoyt doubled and drove in a run.

Highland’s Leland Dubois doubled and scored the Huskies’ lone run on Bradley Gatto’s sacrifice fly in the first inning.

The Huskies finished the season with a 12-8 record.

Huskies fall in Section 9 lacrosse final
Danny Cashen broke a tie with 3:57 left in the game, as the No. 2 Red Hook Raiders ended the top-seeded Highland Huskies’ season, 6-5, on Saturday at Faller Field in Middletown.

The win gave the Raiders their first Section 9 Class C championship since 2019.

Cashen and Brent Macri had three goals each for the Raiders.

Luke Wiese led the Huskies with two goals.

Marlboro’s Conrad 27th in golf
Marlboro’s Dan Conrad finished tied for 27th at the Section 9 boys’ golf championships on May 21 at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston.

He did not make the tournament’s second day, which was scheduled for Thursday at McCann Memorial Golf Course in Poughkeepsie.

Conrad shot an 18-hole score of 90. He was tied with Rhinebeck’s Nico Dentico, Warwick’s Tyler DeSotle, and Onteora’s Max Scanlon. He was the only local golfer to compete.


Marlboro’s Adrien Gueren
reaches tennis quarterfinals
Marlboro’s Adrien Gueren was eliminated from the Section 9 boys’ tennis quarterfinals, when he was beaten by Monroe-Woodbury’s T.J. Mancuso, 7-5, 6-2 on Wednesday at MatchPoint Tennis Center in Goshen.

Gueren was the second straight Iron Duke Mancuso eliminated as he dispatched Colin Benninger in the first round, 6-2, 6-0.

Gueren opened the tournament with a 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 win over Warwick’s Denis McAteer.
Highland’s Zach Haeser and Logan Carle were eliminated in the first round by Newburgh’s Henry Goings-Perrot and Alex Cestaro, 6-0, 6-1.
