Stop the Modena warehouse!

Posted

I recently made a trip to the Plattekill Township to view the blueprints for the Modena warehouse to educate myself and possibly the community.

The summary of traffic given by the developer, was “a walk in the park.” It goes on to say that traffic will be minor and a Level C, which is a stable flow or near free flow.

According to the report, in the morning, 18 trucks will be exiting, and 49 will be entering. The afternoon traffic will be reversed, with 49 trucks exiting and 18 entering.

Picture this (and I will only use 10 trucks as an example). Each tractor trailer is 72 feet long with roughly 10 feet of spacing. That’s a total of 820 feet you will be waiting behind. Add five cars in front f you, each vehicle is 12 to 14 feet long with five feet of spacing, bringing the total to 905 feet.

Now take into account that it takes a tractor trailer seen to 15 seconds to make a turn and they will have to swing wide in that intersection, into oncoming traffic.

The lights are short. You cannot pass any vehicle at the light, it will definitely change multiple times before there’s any hope of moving.

I guess anyone can have a traffic survey smell like roses for a price. This is not the right location. The roads can’t handle the additional traffic and stress on the facility.

Denying this facility is a no-brainer.
