Dear Members of the Valley Central Community,
It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as your new Superintendent of Schools. Over the past six months, I have had the opportunity to meet with countless students, staff, families and community members. I am deeply moved by the warm welcome and the outpouring of support. I have visited classrooms, had lunch with students, attended school and athletic events, met with partner organizations, led professional learning and analyzed multiple types of data. Thank you for sharing your ideas, concerns, joys and pride in our District. Your voices have helped us plan for the future. We will continue to support all students in successfully achieving academically, socially and emotionally, provide extracurricular opportunities and foster caring learning environments where students are at the center.

On behalf of the Valley Central School District, I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the community for its thoughtful consideration of our 2023-2024 budget. We worked diligently to create a budget plan that both meets the needs of our students and is mindful of the impact to taxpayers. I feel very fortunate to be a part of a community that values education and places their trust in us to guide the next generation of the Valley Central community.

Please be reminded the Board of Education adopted a resolution on May 22, 2023 to close the High School/Middle School campus to use and occupancy by the public for the summer in order for the capital improvement project that is underway to proceed without interruption and to ensure the health and safety of the public. This will be the second phase of construction for the redesign of the entrance and exit, bus lanes, traffic lanes, walkways and sidewalks in front of both buildings. The High School/Middle School campus will be closed beginning midmorning on June 25 through August 20. The closing includes all grounds including athletic fields, tennis courts and track, as well as the pool. Gates will be installed at both the entrance and exits of the complex for the time period that the campus is closed. We appreciate the cooperation of the community and look forward to the completion of this capital project.

Summer is a great time for students to read for fun and strengthen their love for reading. Please encourage your children to read daily over the summer months.

I would like to wish our 2023 graduates much luck and success in the journey ahead, and all of our District families a safe and enjoyable summer!
