The fight against breast cancer continues

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time when we come together to spotlight the ongoing battle against this complex and life-changing disease.

For many, breast cancer isn’t just a diagnosis—it’s a lifelong journey. This year, the theme for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, “Thrive365,” focuses on how individuals are not just surviving but thriving all year round despite the challenges of breast cancer.

Organizations like Living Beyond Breast Cancer are sharing inspiring stories of resilience, reminding us that our support today can make a difference every day of the year.

One of the most visible ways we show support is through the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement. This year, Making Strides invites all of us to join the effort to create a future free from breast cancer. The movement is about much more than just walking—it’s about taking meaningful steps toward saving lives. The funds raised help fuel groundbreaking research, provide essential services like free rides to chemotherapy, and offer support to patients around the clock.

On Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, the Hudson Valley community will gather for a family-friendly, non-competitive 2.1-mile walk. The event, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with breast cancer survivors, fighters, and those we’ve lost. Whether you’re walking with friends, family, or solo, every step you take will make a difference. Registration is encouraged, and while there is no fee or fundraising minimum, every dollar raised will help in the fight to end breast cancer as we know it.

Let’s remember that we all have a role to play in this fight. Whether through donations, participation in events like Making Strides, or simply spreading awareness, our collective efforts can help ensure that more people not only survive breast cancer but thrive all year long. Join us, sign up, and let’s walk together toward a brighter, cancer-free future.
