Town of Newburgh Majors win four straight

The Town of Newburgh Major baseball team continues to march through the District 19 consolation bracket after losing their first tournament game on June 29.

Since suffering a 9-3 loss to Pine Bush, Newburgh has won four straight games to enter the championship bracket. That four-game winning streak included a 7-6 win over Pine Bush that eliminated them from the tournament.

They would need to win their next four games to capture a District 19 championship.

The Minors team was eliminated on Wednesday.
Greater Hudson Valley league play continued last week.

Town of Newburgh scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning on their way to a win over Warwick Candia on July 1 in Middletown.
Town of Newburgh added two more runs in the bottom of the third before Warwick cut the lead in half with three runs in the top of the third. Newburgh scored a single run in the fifth and Warwick added one more in the sixth.

Pine Bush 9,
Town of Newburgh 6
Pine Bush scored six runs in the fourth inning to overcome a two-run deficit and flipped the script on the Town of Newburgh on July 1 in Middletown.
Newburgh took a 3-1 lead into the fourth inning when Pine Bush took a 7-3 lead.
Newburgh answered with a run in the fourth and both teams scored two runs in the sixth.

Monroe-Woodbury 13,
Town of Newburgh 7
Monroe-Woodbury scored seven runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach as they eliminated Town of Newburgh from the tournament on Wednesday at Watts Memorial Park in Middletown.
Town of Newburgh took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Monroe-Woodbury answered with three in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Newburgh closed the lead to 6-5 before Monroe-Woodbury’s fifth-inning outburst.
Newburgh scored three runs in the sixth inning.

Town of Newburgh 7, Cornwall 6
Town of Newburgh broke the tie with two runs in the fifth inning and held off Cornwall in the sixth to post a tournament-opening win on Wednesday at Warwick Little League.
Newburgh fell behind 3-2 after the first two innings and took their first lead of the day in the third with two runs. Cornwall took back the lead in the top of the fourth inning and Newburgh tied the game with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Cornwall scored a run in the sixth inning to make it a one-run game.

Town of Newburgh 6, Warwick 5
Town of Newburgh took a five-run lead and then held on for dear life as Warwick rallied for three runs in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth inning on Friday at Woodfield Park in Washingtonville.
Warwick took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and Newburgh scored two runs each in the first two innings to take a 6-1 lead.
Cornwall scored three runs in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth. Cornwall stranded the tying run on third base.

Town of Newburgh scored two runs in the first inning, but Cornwall answered immediately with three of their own. Newburgh took their lead in the fifth and added two more runs in the top of the sixth.

Town of Newburgh broke a 2-2 tie with five runs in the third inning on their way to a six-run victory over Warwick on July 2 in the Town of Wallkill.
Newburgh added two more runs in the fifth inning before Warwick scored a single run in the top of the sixth.

Pine Bush 6
Town of Newburgh scored two runs in the top of the fifth, breaking a 5-5 tie and continued to win with a 7-6 win over Pine Bush on Wednesday at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Montgomery.
Pine Bush took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Newburgh scored a run in the second and four more in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead. Pine Bush scored individual runs in the third and fourth innings to tie the game.
Pine Bush answered Newburgh’s two runs with one in the bottom of the fifth.

Port Jervis-Eldred 1
Town of Newburgh advanced to the consolation bracket with a win over Port Jervis on Friday at Town of Wallkill Little League.
Town of Newburgh scored two runs in the top of the third inning. Port Jervis-Eldred added a run in the bottom of the fourth and Town of Newburgh restored the two-run lead with a run in the top of the fifth inning.

Town of Newburgh 15, Otisville 5
Sean Hinspeter and Jacob Lazarski each doubled and drove in three runs each as Town of Newburgh beat Otisville on July 1 at Veterans Park in Montgomery.
Hinspeter scored two runs and Lazarski scored one.
Town of Newburgh held a 7-5 lead before they scored eight runs in the seventh inning.

Pine Bush 5,
Town of Newburgh 0
Town of Newburgh’s run ended two games short of a Castle Flag when they were beaten by Pine Bush on July 2 at Pine Bush Town Park.
Jayden Brooks and Braeden Farrell had the only hits for the Goldbacks.

Frozen Ropes Rockies 17, Hudson Valley Storm Diaz 6
The Frozen Ropes Rockies scored eight runs to post an 11-run win over the Hudson Valley Storm Diaz on July 2 at New Windsor Little League.
The game was called after four innings due to the 10-run rule.
The Rockies led the Storm 9-6 after three innings.

Hudson Valley Storm Blair 13, Hudson Valley Renegades 3
The Hudson Valley Storm Blair scored six runs in the third inning to break the tie on their way to a win over the Hudson Valley Renegades at New Windsor Little League on Wednesday.
The Storm scored four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the game by the 10-run rule.

Hudson Valley Storm One 10, Assault Bravo 0
Ivan Mendez drove in two runs as the Hudson Valley Storm One routed the Assault Bravo on Sunday at Reis Fields in Somers.
Bryce Foster had two hits for the Storm.

Hudson Valley Two 4, Westchester Elite 3
Brendan Elwood delivered a walk-off single as the Hudson Valley Storm Two defeated the Westchester Elite on June 30 at New Windsor Little League.
Elwood had two hits and drove in all four runs.

High School/Legion Division 4
Kent White Sox 12, Hudson Valley Storm Two 6
The Kent White Sox scored seven runs in the second inning to ride to a win over Storm Two on July 1 at Delano-hitch Stadium in Newburgh.
Julian Butcher had a hit and two RBIs. Mikey Bonagura had a hit and an RBI.

High school/Legion Crossover
Hudson Valley Storm Two 9, Briarcliff Bears 0
Johnny Gore had three hits, including a double and a triple, scored four runs and drove in one as the Storm shut out the Briarcliff Bears on July 2 at Briarcliff High School.
Julian Butcher had two hits, a run scored and an RBI, while Mik Daley had a hi and a run scored.
Kaen Smith had three hits and two RBI and Niko Mandich had a hit and two RBIs.

Hudson Valley Storm One 4, Cortlandt Nationals 1
John Gore had two hits, a run scored and an RBI, as the Hudson Valley Storm One scored three runs in the first inning on their way to a win over the Cortlandt Nationals on Friday at Sunset Park in Cortlandt.
Dan Decker and Casey Voegel each drove in a run. Cooper Vogel had two hits.

Hudson Valley Storm Two 6, D.C. Bulldogs 5
Mikey Daley hit a walk-off single, lifting the Hudson Valley Storm Two to a win over the D.C. Bulldogs on Friday at Delano-Hitch Stadium in Newburgh.
The Storm entered the bottom of the seventh inning trailing, 5-2, but scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to secure the victory.
Kaen Smith had two hits, including a double, scored two runs and drove in three. Daley had two hits and three RBIs. Niko Mandich scored two runs.
Connor Griffin was the winning pitcher.
