Town of Wallkill team advances to Section 3 tournament

The combined 50/70 Intermediate baseball team from Monroe-Woodbury, Middletown and the Town of Wallkill Little Leagues will advance to the Section 3 tournament, after winning a decisive championship game on Thursday at Davidge Park in Middletown.

The team won its three games by an average of over 10 runs and will now advance to the upcoming Section 3 tournament.

District 19 Little League

Cornwall 16, Wallkill Area 1

The Wallkill Area was eliminated from the tournament on June 20 in a game that was cut short in the fourth inning due to the 15-run rule. Cornwall moved on to Wednesday’s championship game against Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill.

Wallkill Area scored their lone run on a solo home run in the third inning.

Cornwall 3, Combined Town of Wallkill 2
Cornwall forced a decisive championship game with a win over Middletown on Wednesday. The winner of Thursday’s game will decide the District 19 championship.

Combined-Town of Wallkill 10, Cornwall 0

Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill rebounded from its first loss of the season to come back and rout Cornwall, 10-0 on Thursday to win the District 19 championship.

Wallkill Area 2
Wallkill Area was sent to the elimination bracket on June 19 when they were routed by Town of Newburgh-New Windsor, which won their previous game by 22 runs.

Greenwood Lake 14, Wallkill Area 3
Wallkill Area was eliminated from the tournament on June 20 when they suffered a blowout loss to Greenwood Lake on June 20 at the Town of Newburgh.

Marlboro Marlins 6, Wallkill Wildcats 5
Wallkill Wildcats 8, Marlboro Marlins 4

The Marlboro Marlins and Wallkill Wildcats split a doubleheader on June 18 at Young’s Park in Milton.

The Wildcats took a 3-0 lead at the top of the first inning, but the Marlins responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning of the first game.

The Wildcats led the second game 4-2 after three innings before, and then added one in the fourth and three more in the fifth to win the second game. The Marlins closed the to 5-4 in the top of the fifth, but Wallkill added three runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the victory and earn the split.

Wallkill Wildcats 14

The Wheelhouse Marauders scored seven runs in the fifth inning and added three more in the fifth to outlast the Wallkill Wildcats on Wednesday in Wallkill.

The Marauders scored five runs in the top of the first, but Wallkill responded with four runs in each of the first two innings. They added three runs in the third inning to take an 11-5 lead However, the Marauders’ big fourth inning gave them the lead, but Wallkill responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead. But the Marauders won the fifth inning by two runs to secure the victory.

Pine Bush Rebels White 6

The Black Dirt Barnstormers took a five-run lead in the third inning on their way to a five-run victory over Pine Bush Rebels White on Thursday at Florida Little League Field.

The Rebels scored two runs in the fourth but fell behind 11-2 after five innings. They rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The Rebels had a tough first inning in Game 1, allowing three runs, but rallied for four in the bottom of the inning to take a lead they would never give up. They added single runs in the second and third innings. LevelUP added a run in the fourth inning.

The Rebels scored two runs in the seventh but were unable to overcome LevelUP’s four-run lead after five innings. The Rebels opened the game with three runs, but LevelUP tied the game with two in the first and then one in the second. They took the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning.

Hudson Valley Hawks 9, Pine Bush Rebels 4
The Hudson Valley Hawks scored five runs in the first inning and two more in the second inning to post a victory over the Pine Bush Rebels on Wednesday at Mays Filed in Washingtonville.

The Rebels scored a run in the third inning and tacked on three more to pull within two runs, but the Hawks added another three in the bottom of the fourth.

The Marlboro Wildcats and Pine Bush Rebels split a doubleheader on June 18.

The Wildcats broke a 5-5 tie in the third inning and then added four runs in the fifth inning on their way to a win in the first game.

Liam Tuttle had a hit and three RBIs for the Rebels.
The Rebels scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and post a three-run victory over the Wildcats in Game 2.

Wallkill Panthers 10, Naturals Blue 0
Ben Dortort threw a complete-game shutout as the Wallkill Panthers beat the Naturals 10-0 in a 5-inning game in Wallkill on Wednesday. He also doubled and drove in three runs.

Troy Fontana drove in two runs and Anthony Daley tripled and drove in three runs.

Wheelhouse Marauders 11, Pine Bush Rebels 9
The Wheelhouse Marauders erased the Pine Bush Rebels’ five-run lead with a seven run fifth, as they beat the Rebels by two runs on Wednesday at Kristi Babcock Memorial Park in New Windsor.

Carlton Hilliard had a hit and two RBIs for the Rebels., while Easton Vellenga added a hit and two RBIs.Timmy Trojahn had two hits and two RBIs. Liam Tuttle had a hit and an RBI and Tommy Sciascia had two hits and two RBIs.

Naturals White 15, Pine Bush Rebels 5
The Northstar Naturals scored eight runs in the fourth inning on their way to a win over the Pine Bush Rebels on Friday at Crawford Town Park.

Pine Bush’s Tyler Vanderkooy had a hit and two RBIs. Easton Vellenga singled and drove in a run.

High School
Wallkill Panthers 13, Mahopac Indians 11
The Wallkill Panthers built a seven-run lead and then hung on for dear life for a win over the Mahopac Indians on June 18 on the road.

Mikey Bonagura had a hit and three RBIs for the Panthers, while Mikey Daley also had a hit and two RBIs. Conner Griffin also had a hit and two RBIs. Riley Burke had two hits and an RBI. He also scored three runs. Kaen Smith doubled and scored three runs, while Niko Mandich had two hits, including a double and three RBIs.

Bonagura got the win on the mound, allowing three runs over four innings.
