Town of Wallkill team reaches state finals

The combined intermediate baseball from the Monroe-Woodbury, Middletown and Town of Wallkill Little Leagues was one of the top two teams in the state, reaching the state championship game against Massapequa Coast Little League on Friday at Half Hollow Hills Little League in Dix Hills.

Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill lost their only two games to Massapequa Coast.
They opened the tournament with a big win over West Islip before losing their first game to Massapequa Coast. They rebounded with an 11-1 win over Penfield, setting up the second game against Massapequa Coast.

The combined team from the Monroe-Woodbury, Middletown and Town of Wallkill Little Leagues brought their offensive domination to the state tournament with a win over West Islip on July 10 at Half Hollow Hills Little League.

The game was called after four innings due to the 10-run rule.

Massapequa Coast 5, Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill 1
Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill ran into their first roadblock of the state tournament when they suffered a loss to Massapequa Coast on Wednesday.

Massapequa Coast advanced to Friday’s championship game while Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill fell to the elimination bracket to face Penfield.

Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill earned its rematch with Massapequa Coast when it defeated Section 1 West champion Penfield on Thursday in a game that was called by the 10-run rule.

Penfield was eliminated from the tournament.

Massapequa Coast 7, Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill 4

The run ended on Friday when Monroe-Woodbury-Middletown-Town of Wallkill were beaten by Massapequa Coast to end their summer, eliminating them as the No. 2 team in the state.

Pine Bush Rebels 20, Newburgh Knights 6
The Pine Bush Rebels scored eight runs in the second inning and 11 more in the third inning on their way to a blowout win over the Newburgh Knights on Wednesday at Crawford Town Park.
The Knights scored six runs in the third inning.

The game was called after four innings by the 10-run rule.

Wallkill Panthers 5, Newburgh Red Storm 4
The Wallkill Panthers scored five runs over the third and fourth innings to post a victory over the Newburgh Red Storm on July 11 at Delano-Hitch Stadium in Newburgh.

After the Red Storm took a 3-0 lead after the top of the third inning, the Panthers scored two in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to one and then added three more in the fourth to take the lead.

Newburgh scored a run in the top of the seventh.

Pine Bush Rebels 13, Hudson Valley Aces 3
The Hudson Valley Aces led after one inning before the Pine Bush Rebels scored four runs in the second to take the lead for good on Thursday at C.J. Hooker Middle School in Goshen.

Pine Bush added five runs in the fourth inning, and three more in the sixth inning.

The Wallkill Panthers were shut out on July 11 by the Mahopac Wolves in Mahopac.

Pine Bush Rebels 9, Naturals White 4
The Pine Bush Rebels split a doubleheader with the Naturals on Saturday at Crawford Town Park in Pine Bush.

The Naturals scored four runs in the second inning, erasing a 2-0 Pine Bush lead on their way to a win in the first game.

Carlton Hilliard had a hit and two RBIs for the Rebels, and Liam Tuttle had two hits and an RBI. Cody Hanson doubled and pitched 4 1/3 innings for the Rebels with seven strikeouts.

Hanson had two hits and two RBIs as Pine Bush overcame a 4-1 deficit with a five-run sixth inning for a comeback victory. Hilliard doubled and drove in two runs. Tyler Ingalls singled with an RBI and Tuttle had a base hit and an RBI.

Ingalls threw a complete game with eight strikeouts.

Jon Guglielmo threw a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Wallkill Panthers won the second game on their way to a doubleheader split with the Newburgh Red Storm on Saturday at Delano-Hitch Stadium in Newburgh.

Dom Cipriani had two hits and two RBIs, while Aidan Badendyck had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

The Red Storm got two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Jo Alicea scored what turned out to be the game-winning run as they took the first game. Jackson Noel Martinez drove in a run for the Red Storm.

Cipriani had two hits and an RBI for Wallkill.
