Two charged with weapons possession

On July 5, around 1 a.m. police received a ShotSpotter notification for the North Miller block. Officers arrived and located 20 shell casings consisting of .40 caliber, .45 caliber, and 9mm. In addition, officers located several live .40 caliber and .45 caliber rounds. Officers continued to canvass and located an additional twenty-two 9mm shell casings a few houses away from the initial scene.

While officers were processing the second scene, ShotSpotter notified officers of another shooting about two blocks away, in the Farrington block. Officers responded and located two shell casings and a vehicle that was struck by gun fire.

Officers continued to process all three scenes and located a total of two loaded firearms, a Hi-Point .45 semi-automatic firearm and a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver.

On July 15, the City of Newburgh Police Department arrested two suspects involved with this incident. Deandre Peacock, a 22-year-old City of Newburgh resident, and Deon Patterson, a 21-year-old City of Newburgh resident, were both arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.
