Voters in the Valley Central gave their blessings, Tuesday, to a $126 million budget, approving the spending plan for along with two capital projects. The actual vote tallies were not available.
Two capital projects were approved by the voters. The first, for safety improvements, includes security vestibules, necessary facility upgrades, and improvements at each school.
The second capital project approved included renovations to the science classrooms at the High School and technology classrooms at the Middle School, additional renovations at Berea Elementary school that will relocate the main office and Kindergarten classrooms to provide for enhanced security, upgrades to the library at Montgomery Elementary School, and additional facility upgrades at other District buildings.
Voters also approved a proposition to establish a new capital reserve which can be funded up to $15,000,000 for up to 10 years.
Three candidates ran for three seats on the board of education. Incumbent Katie McKnight and Frances Fox- Pizzonia, with the two highest vote tallies, were elected to three-year terms on the school board. Incumbent Board President Joseph Bond was elected to fill the unexpired term of former board member Dee Wright Kelly, who resigned last year.
