The Valley Central boys’ soccer team has continued to have success in the new Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association Division II with a 3-0 win over the Monticello Panthers on Wednesday night at Valley Central High School in Montgomery.

Sean Watson, Tanner Hansen and Xavier Fonseca each scored a goal each for the Vikings, who guaranteed themselves a berth in the Section 9 Class AA tournament by securing at least a .500 record in the division.

James Joyce made four saves for the Vikings.

The Vikings and the Panthers had previously met on September 11, a game the Vikings won 6-0.

Heading into Wednesday night’s game, the Vikings had only lost two divisional games on September 13 to the Cornwall Dragons and on September 15 to the Goshen Gladiators. They lost both games by a score of 1-0.

Valley Central lost their rematch with the Dragons, 3-1, on Friday.

The Vikings will host the Gladiators on Thursday, before finishing the regular season next week with games against the Washingtonville Wizards and Warwick.

The Vikings had previously beaten both teams.
