Wallkill Reformed Church hosts trunk or treat

On Sunday, Oct. 25, the Wallkill Reformed Church, located at 45 Bridge Street in the Hamlet of Wallkill, hosted a trunk or treat event in the church parking lot. The church planned this event to offer the families of the area a safe and fun way to enjoy Halloween. The event was also held as a way for the church to open their hearts and provide service to others during this challenging time.

It was a perfect fall night and there was an abundance of good will and good cheer among the church’s community.

Over 200 costumed and masked children, along with their parents and caregivers, enjoyed candy and other treats. Glow sticks were placed on the pavement so that families would remain six feet apart. Costumes included everything from unicorns to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to scarecrows and many more! The treats were safely handed to people by members and friends of the congregation from the trunks of 23 decorated vehicles. Each family also received a pumpkin and a book, The Pumpkin Patch Parable, which expressed the good news that each person may shine the light of Jesus even when the world seems dark. Every family also received a description of the congregation’s ministries, inviting folks to participate. Rev. Stan Seagren is the Minister. The church’s phone number is 845-895-2181, email is churchoffice@wallkillreformed.org.

As the church scared away the pandemic, at least for that night, everyone was smiling behind their masks.
