We in the Town of Shawangunk are fortunate and thankful that we have an excellent candidate in Adrienne Gelfand-Perine for Ulster County Legislature in District 13.

Adrienne has spent decades in public and community service. She was a teacher for 25 years and a chapter leader for the NY United Federation of Teachers, served as President of the Friends of the Wallkill Library, help found the Vision of Wallkill and continues as a trustee. She works with the local food pantry, Wallkill Woman’s Club, and the Historical Society. She stood with NY State corrections officers during their strike in 2025.

She is Chairperson of the Shawangunk Democrats which was nonexistent until Adrienne and her late husband Jim reestablished it in 2017. Her leadership made our local democrats visible in District 13. She is focused on solutions not playing politics. Adrienne will work with anyone, no matter party affiliation. She recognizes that we need to address the problems regarding transportation, supporting our farmers, the arts community and food insecurity and it will take all of our leaders and representatives to get things done.
