David Emile Wilson of Montgomery, NY, a lifelong resident of the area died Monday July 29, 2024, in Palm Coast, FL where he lived with his daughter and son in law. He was 91.

The son of the late David G. and Elizabeth Stay Wilson, he was born June 1, 1933 Staten Island, NY.

He was most recently a remote congregant of the New Prospect Reformed Church and past-congregant of the Brick Reformed Church, former volunteer of the Montgomery Food Pantry, and a regular donor to many various causes.

David was a Petty Officer 3rd Class, United States Navy USS Worcester, Korean War Vet. He was a Photographers Mate of aerial, land and underwater assignments. During his service he was able to fulfill a dream of seeing the world through travels to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Ireland, England, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Libya, Turkey, Haiti, and Cuba.

After he was discharged in 1955, David and Martha Innis were soon married.  He went on to graduate from SUNY Delhi on the GI Bill.  Then he and Martha welcomed 6 children.  He also spent a rewarding and satisfying career of 35 years as a Nuclear Lab Technician in Tuxedo, NY.

There were two spans of his life that David considered the best years of his life.  The first was from ages 10 to 18, when he worked with horses and found something he truly loved. He felt most free on a horse. The second was the time he spent with his family.  David was prouder of his family than anything else.  He adored the admiration and love his family gave him, and did not take any of it for granted.

The biggest influences in David’s life were his wife, children, grandchildren, and the Lord.  David’s final days were spent in hospice at home- as were his wishes. He was surrounded by the pouring out of love, honor, comfort, music, flowers, food, affection and respect from his family, both in person and through many video and voice calls from various states.

Survivors include his sons Lawrence Wilson (Rita) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Paul Wilson (Evelyn) of TX; Stephen Wilson of Kingston, NY, Karsten Wilson (Rachel) of Middletown, NY; daughter Laura Jean Wilson- Algarin (Darrell) of Palm Coast, FL; daughter-in-law Jennifer Wilson-Francisco of Walden, NY; grandchildren: Jennifer, Stephanie, Monika, James, Lee, Jacob, David, Jennifer, Michael, Kaitlyn, Kimberly, Roy, Krystal, Kevin, Christopher, Ryan, Sarah, Rebekah, Xavier; great-grandchildren: Elle, Wyatt, Lillian, Emmett, Waylon, Violet, Sophia, Clara, Joshua, Janelle, Ja’sire, Tangelina, Faith, Noah, Roy Jr., Alana, Zidane, Bradley, Sebastian, and Lydia; brother Monte Wilson (Rita) of Myrtle Beach, SC; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife Martha, son Dale and sisters Kathryn, Jewel, and June.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 28, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at  11:30a.m. at New Prospect Reformed Church, 2964 NY-52, Pine Bush, NY 12566.  Preacher Karsten Wilson will officiate.  Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Smile, one of his favorite charities.
