Dennis John Hulihan, of Montgomery, New York, passed away on October 17th, leaving behind a loving family whose lives were made better by his love, devotion, and loyalty. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Denny will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his ability to strike up a conversation with most anyone, the skill to make multiple trips to Shop Rite in a single day and the lasting impact he made on those lucky enough to know him

Born on May 6, 1946, in Neptune Beach, FL, Dennis was the son of Thomas and Marie Hulihan. Before joining the United States Marine Corps and serving his country in Vietnam, Denny married Jackie — the love of his life. Shortly thereafter, he left for Vietnam and the two spent a year apart while he served overseas. During that time, they stayed connected through countless letters, sharing their thoughts, hopes and dreams across the miles. While he was serving his country, Jackie waited for him at home, and the letters they exchanged helped keep them close. Their love endured through that first year apart and grew into a marriage that lasted 56 years. Together, they built a life, raised a family, and shared the many joys and challenges that come with a lifetime of love and partnership. That everlasting love and commitment to one another was unmistakable to everyone who knew them.

Denny attended Junior College and Florida State University, where he played football before leaving school to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Combat Correspondent and was honorably discharged in 1973 as a Staff Sergeant — Semper Fi. Second only to the love for his family was that for the game of football and the New York Giants.

Baseball didn't follow too far behind. In 1980, he became the President of Montgomery Little League and he spearheaded and initiated the first team sponsorships and uniforms.

After a successful career in sales spanning 45 years, he retired from Roehl Transport in 2017 as their Vice President of the Northeast.

Above all, Denny treasured his family and spending time with them. He was a proud father of two and a loving Grandfather to his five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. His role as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was central to his life, and his love for his family will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Jackie; his children, Kevin Hulihan and his wife Donna, Erin Schweizer and her husband Willy; and his 5 grandchildren, Isabella (Ben), Keira (Cameron), Carolynn (Brandon), Grace (Owen) and William and his great granddaughter, Beverly Grace. He is also survived by his sibling, Michael Hulihan (Mary); and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were part of his extended family.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Marie Hulihan; his siblings, Thomas Hulihan and Mary Ann Hulihan; his nephew, JP Murphy; his mother-in-the-law, Grace Adduci and his sister-in-law, Maria Adams.
