After previous unsuccessful bids for the painting and preservation of the Desmond House on Albany Post Road, the Newburgh Town Board has moved forward and approved several local and regional companies to conduct the work at the historical site.

The board approved the following contracts: Quality Environmental Solutions and Technologies [QUES&T] contract for the removal of loose paint and application of primer seal not to exceed $5,090; Beam Enterprises Inc. at $188,500 for the removal of loose lead paint on the exterior of the building and install primer seal; Day One Custom Painting and Restoration, $83,700 for the repair of holes and soffits, repair of porch ceiling, repair porch posts, repair window trim, repair door trim and other painful areas. In addition, funds have been earmarked for this project in the 2022 budget and an additional $100,000 from the Kaplan Foundation will help with the coverage of costs.
