Gardiner Town Board approves Lazy River application

The Gardiner Town Board approved the Lazy River campground license application for the 2024 season at meeting on Tuesday, April 9 at Town Hall. The Lazy River application was previously delayed at the Town Board meeting on March 12 due to missing key information such as the proposed opening and closing dates of the campground, an evacuation plan, and other items.

The campground is now scheduled to open April 19 and close for the season on Nov. 3.

The board has arranged for a monthly call to take place on the first Tuesday of every month at 12 p.m. with the general manager of Lazy River to discuss the progress of the developments of the campground that the applicant is still required by the board to make.

There was some concern among the board about why Lazy River was being allowed to open for business if they didn’t complete all the requirements needed for the board. It was made clear by the Town Supervisor, Marybeth Majestic, that the requirements needed for a special use permit were not the same requirements needed for a license application, which is how the applicant could not be prevented from opening for business, as they met the requirements needed for a license application.
