James Olley Park Beach opens for the season

Citizens across the United States desperately seek relief from this month’s searing temperatures, the highest they’ve been this year. How do you beat the heat? For Walden residents, they have a secret: hidden away in the foliage of James Olley Park is a beach lake, an oasis that washes away all stresses and dispels the sun’s atrocious torridity, if only for an afternoon.

Between July 8 to August 16, the beach will be open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The rules for the beach’s swimming area include the following.

1. Children 11 and under must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
2. No food or beverages are allowed on the beach.
3. No flotation devices.

4. No rough playing.
5. Swimmers may only dive in the shallow water.
6. No pets.
7. Do not litter or abuse the park property.
8. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the beach or in the park.

Whether you take a dip in the water, practice a bit of fishing, or set sail on a board, James Olley Park’s beach lake has everything you need to escape summer’s wrath (Just be sure to bring water and sunscreen).
