Joan L. Jansen (nee Slater) of Walden passed away May 29, 2023 after a brief illness at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Jansen, her sister, Joyce Freeman and granddaughter, Jayme Jansen Tate. The daughter of the late James and Gertrude Abbott Slater, she was born on September 13, 1932 in Poughkeepsie.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Erwin, and her husband, Gary, and her son, David Jansen, and his wife, Peggy; her grandchildren, Kelsey Erwin and Michael and Jennifer Huffer; her great grandchildren Ethan, Evan, Owen Pahucki and Olivia, Amelia, Dylan, Ryan, and Logan Tate.
The family would like to express their gratitude to her dedicated caregivers, Ann and Shei-Ann.
Joan was a graduate of Vassar Brothers School of Nursing and a retired school nurse teacher from the Pine Bush School District.
She enjoyed any type of crafts and had been a member of the Country Quilters Guild. Anyone who knew her knows that she never met a cookie that she didn’t like!
