Juneteenth celebration planned for Wooster Grove

The Sacred Places of My Ancestors (SPOMA) Committee is thrilled to announce the return of the highly anticipated 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration. This family-friendly event, dedicated to commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, promises a day filled with joy, culture, and community spirit.

Scheduled for Wednesday, June 19, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at Wooster Grove located at 89 East Main Street, Walden, attendees can expect an array of activities and attractions suitable for all ages. From a captivating DJ to engaging local historical research, learning about local social justice organizations and meeting Black owned businesses, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Event Highlights Include:

• Family Fun: Bring the whole family and join in on the festivities. From interactive games to exciting activities, there’s no shortage of entertainment.

• Face Painting: Let your imagination run wild with our talented face painters who will transform your face into a work of art.

• Dancing: Get your groove on with lively music and line dancing.

• Free Food: Enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs!

• Food Trucks: Indulge your taste buds with a variety of delicious cuisines from our selection of food trucks, serving up mouthwatering dishes throughout the event.

• Raffles: Take part in our exciting raffle draws for a chance to win fantastic prizes donated by local Black businesses and sponsors.

“We are excited to host our 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration and continue the tradition of honoring the significance of this day,” said Mercedes Ortiz, a spokesperson for the SPOMA committee. “This year we are excited to announce we have food truck vendor Jacked Juice LLC and Yeah Mon Restaurant and Lounge, authentic Jamaican Cuisine.
