Loads of winners at Walden’s Easter Egg Hunt

Hundreds gathered this past sunny Saturday at James W. Olley Community Park for the Village of Walden’s Easter Egg Hunt.

It originally was set for Saturday, April 1 at 10 a.m., but got postponed a week due to a rainy forecast. Luckily for Village of Walden residents, the weather ended up in their favor with the sun shining and a cool breeze. The egg hunt is hosted by the Walden Parks and Recreation Department.

Egg hunt participants were separated into three age groups: 0 to 4, 5 to 7, and 8 to 11. Children in each group waited patiently until they heard a loud police siren which initiated the chaos of grabbing colorful eggs while looking for the golden and silver ones.
The golden egg winners were Jack Bunnenberg, 2 and Laken McCormick, 4 in the 0-4 range. In the 5 to 7 age group, Isabella Padannamackal and Michaela Bliss were the lucky golden egg finders, both 7 years old. Finally, 9-year-old Vanessa Romeo and 8-year-old Brianna Rutowski won in their age group.

Golden egg winners got to take home a fun and sweet-filled Easter basket.

There were also some silver eggs placed on behalf of the James Holbert Memorial Fund. Winners included Bryce Snyder, 2, Emma and Mila Sollecito, both 7, and McKinley Matthews, 8. They won fishing gear on behalf of Jimmy’s Helping Hands, Inc., a local charity that gives out the VCSD Jimmy Holbert Memorial Scholarship.

Participants also got to meet and take a picture with the Easter Bunny.
