Michael Hunger of New Windsor, passed away peacefully at Selective Specialty Hospital in Rochelle Park, New Jersey on April 7, 2024. He was 65.
Michael was a New York City Police officer in the 49th Precinct in the Bronx for 20 yrs. And after he retired, drove a school bus for West Point Tours.Michael was born on September 20, 1958 in Brooklyn, to the late Leonard Hunger and Lucy DiNozzi. He was an active member of the NYPD PBA. He had a love for his family, spending time with his grandchildren,friends, food and cars. Michael had a passion for baseball and loved his Mets. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Michael was warm and friendly to all and had a natural ability to make others laugh. He is survived by his loving wife Anne Marie Hunger at home; Rebecca Anne Kurman (Keith) of Newburgh; sister, Iris Bernstein (Mike) of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Paige and Grayson Kurman; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Larry Hunger.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 11, from 5-8 p.m.at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard St. Walden. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday April 12, 2024 at 10 a.m.at Sacred Heart Church, 24 S. Robinson Avenue, Newburgh. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following the mass.
