I am elated and truly humbled to share with you that on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held at the Anita L. Vandermark Community Center located at James W. Olley Park, 97 Sherman Avenue, Walden.

This is a dream come true. Hope to see you there.

Xander Macri sent me the following information reflecting calls made by the Walden Fire Department for the month of December 2022: Gas Leaks - 4; Automatic Alarms - 8; Carbon Monoxide Alarms - 2; Medical Calls - 3; Motor Vehicle Accidents - 2; Structure Fires - 2; Assist Fire - 1; and Wires Down - 1. Thank you Xander for sharing this monthly report. Please thank the Walden Fire Department for their outstanding service they provide to our Community.

The Walden P. D. sends word there has recently been an uptick in car larcenies within the Village. Please be vigilant about locking your car when parked. Criminals look for easy targets. Don’t become a statistic. Lock your car like you lock the front door of your residence.

Jen Burke and Nicole Chivatonni, Presidents of WES PTO, invite you to attend a night of crafting on Friday, January 20, 6 - 8 p.m. at the Walden Fire House Social Hall.

You will be making crafts to be sold at the WES Holiday Craft Fair. Bring your glue gun, craft materials, adult beverages and friends to this event. Or, just bring yourself, as they have plenty of small projects that need lots of helping hands! Refreshments provided by Tracey’s Kitchen will be available for a small donation.

If you are unable to attend the event but are willing to donate crafts or crafting supplies, please contact waldenptopres@gmail.com.

The Lottery Calendars sponsored by the Walden Community Council will remain for sale until the end of January. They may be purchased at the front desk of the Walden library. WCC already had a $40 winner in 2023!

The calendars sell for $20 each and are good for 364 days of the year 2023, the exception being Christmas Day. We ended the year 2022 with a New Year’s Eve winner who has received a check for $100. There is still time to choose your lucky number.

Sending belated Happy Birthday wishes to Mason Bliss. Mason, an outstanding Wrestler, celebrated his 9th birthday on January 14. His sister, Michaela Bliss, an excellent gymnast will celebrate her 7th birthday on January 19. It’s time to celebrate!
