Pine Bush swimmers top Washingtonville

The Pine Bush boys’ swimming team won eight out of 12 events in Wednesday’s 103-82 win over the Washingtonville Wizards at Washingtonville High School.

Bryce Sloley and Tomek Oakes were each part of four winning events – two individual and two relays – for the Bushmen.

Sloley won the 100-yard butterfly with a state-qualifying time of 52.57 and won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.48, both personal bests. Oakes won the 100-yard freestyle with a state-qualifying time of 48.70 seconds and won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.29.

They were both part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay Blaze Devlin and Chase Dodson. Sloley helped lead off the meet as he teamed with Liam Blackwell, Dominic Licardi and Jack Vuksanovich to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:43.35. Oakes anchored 400-meter freestyle relay with Vuksanovich, Josh Gallagher and Devlin to close the meet with a victory.

Liam Blackwell won the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best 57.76 seconds.

Pine Bush’s Jayden McCord and Matthew Webster each placed personal bests in the 200-yard freestyle. McCord was third and Webster took fifth. Gallagher posted a season best in the 200-yard individual medley and A.J. Giannini posted a personal best.

Licardi was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 24.47.

Gallagher posted a season-best in the 100-yard butterfly in 59.40 seconds and Devlin had a personal best in 59.98, finishing fourth.

Vuksanovich’s second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.50 was a personal best.

Jack Vero finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 5:46.12.
Giannini posted a personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing second with a time of 1:08.30 and Licardi had a season-best 1:11.08.
