The Pine Bush volleyball team opened its season on September 5 with a 3-1 non-league win over the New Paltz Dukes at Marlboro High School.

The Bushmen won the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-14 before Marlboro rallied to win the third set and avoid a sweep, handing Pine Bush a 22-25 defeat in the third set. The Bushmen finished the night off in the third set with a 25-16 victory.

Kendall Morris led Pine Bush with six digs, three aces and 10 kills, and Madelyn Magsamen had 16 digs and nine kills. Monica Ilioiu had 10 digs and nine kills.

Katie Thorne led the Dukes with eight kills and nine digs, while Giana Fiore had six kills, 11 digs and two aces. Kalista Birkenstock added 15 digs and three aces, while Jaedyn Lunsford had 13 digs, 15 assists and two aces.

The Bushmen finished the week on Friday night with another non-league contest as they traveled to Sullivan County to take on the Monticello Panthers.

Anabella Almeida had 26 assists, four digs and three kills, while Ilioiu had 13 kills and seven digs. Taylor Jennings and Ellie Hoppie had five blocks and four kills each.
