SUNY Orange hosts eclipse-viewing events

On Monday, April 8, an astronomical phenomenon is happening! Come to SUNY Orange between 2 to 4:30 p.m. and experience the 2024 Partial Solar Eclipse at this great community event. See friends and neighbors and meet new folks - young and old. Bring lawn chairs.

Learn from the professors as you view the eclipse through telescopes with solar filters and solar glasses. Solar glasses will be available to share. If you already own a pair, bring them. No time is safe for looking directly at the sun in the timeframe of the duration. Solar glasses or solar filters on telescopes are necessary.

On the Newburgh campus the event takes place on Larkin Plaza with Geology Professor Anthony Soricelli and Chemistry Professor Jacqueline Bair, plus assistants.

In addition, livestreaming of the progression of the eclipse within the United States from Texas to Maine will be available in the Gerry Forum 010 in the Rowley Center for Science and Engineering, Middletown campus and the OBTC Great Room 101 in Kaplan Hall, Newburgh campus.
