On March 26, at approximately 9:30 p.m. state police responded to Interstate 84 westbound in the town of Montgomery for a report of a two-vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a 2014 Acura TL was involved in a collision with an ambulance. Troopers observed the operator of the Acura standing outside of the vehicle. The operator was identified as Ragi Hill, age 26, from the town of Wallkill. While speaking with troopers, it was determined that she was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Hill was transported to Garnet Medical Center for medical evaluation.

Troopers then spoke with the operator of the Ambulnz Ambulance and its occupants. The ambulance was not in emergency operation at the time of the collision. The operator was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh for a shoulder injury. The passengers, both EMTs, were also transported to St. Luke’s for treatment of minor injuries.

Hill was charged with felony DWI and issued tickets for several Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Montgomery Court on May 3, 2023, at 2 p.m.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Town of Montgomery Police, Village of Montgomery Police, Mechanicstown Fire Department, and Maybrook Fire Department.
