I just recently read where Trump was quoted as publicly stating he will, if President in 2024, pardon the January 6 rioters who are convicted and sentenced for crimes against our government. He wants to give these insurrectionists who caused death and destruction a free pass. Obviously Trump feels an obligation to them since these violent seditionists were only following his veiled instructions to storm the Capitol, the citadel of our democracy, with the express purpose of preventing the constitutional duty of Congress to certify President Biden’s 2020 election victory. On national TV we saw first-hand how Trump inspired and instigated the attack on the Capitol building clearly exhibiting his complicity in the insurrection. We also saw and heard Trump call the rioters special people and actually said “We love you.” I know that reference to ‘We’ in this love quote does not include me! They are not special people to me or to anyone else for that matter who believes in the rule of law, cherishes our democracy and holds dear our Constitution. Unfortunately even the Republican National Committee followed Trump to the dark side by giving its stamp of approval to the violent actions of the January 6 insurrectionists; the chairwoman of the RNC had the dangerous audacity to describe the attempted election coup by the rioters as a legitimate form of political discourse! So much for the GOP being the ‘law and order’ party.

The seditious actions of Trump’s minions should not be condoned. Free passes should never be given to criminals. Accountability must prevail so that such deterrence prevents another January 6 from happening.
