The Pine Bush Area Public Library is excited to announce a variety of upcoming events for the community to enjoy.

The Friends of Pine Bush Library will be hosting an Easter Bake Sale on Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pine Bush Area Library Community Center, 223-227 Maple Avenue. Attendees can expect a variety of scrumptious homemade goodies in which to indulge.

Starting Wednesday, April 12 at 11 a.m., the library will also be offering a weekly crocheting group led by Sharon Kohan. The group welcomes all skill levels from first-timers to experts, and all participants are required to bring their own siz G hook. Space is limited, and those interested in attending must call 845-744-4265 ext. 2 to sign up.

For those who enjoy ukulele music or would like to learn how to play, the Pine Bush Ukulele Group (PineBUGS) will be offering lessons at the Pine Bush Area Library on the first and second Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. Beginners and newcomers are welcome, and loaner ukuleles are available. For more information, contact Kate Banks at Katebanks@ymail.com or Sandy Damon at sdamon@rcls.org or call (845) 744-4265 ext. 2.

On April 8 at 11 a.m., the library will be hosting the reading of “Tomatoes for Neela,” a story about the importance of connecting with family, tradition and culture through food. The event will be held at the Library Community Room, and a surprise craft will be included. Those interested in attending must reserve their spot by calling (845) 744-4265 ext. 2.

Lastly, on Wednesday, April 5 at 1 p.m., anthropologist Barbara Bodenhorn will present “Whales, souls, children and other things that are good to share; what goes around, comes around in Arctic Alaska.” The talk will explore how Inupiat (Alaskan Inuit) talk about their own survival in an extreme environment and the surprising adaptations developed by Arctic inhabitants. Those interested in attending must call 845-744-4265 ext. 2 to sign up.
