Vikings roll past Newburgh 15-5

The Valley Central boys’ lacrosse team jumped out to a 7-0 lead in what eventually became a 15-5 win over the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks on Wednesday at Academy Field.

Julian Rodriguez led the Vikings with four goals. Jack Sherry, Bryson Antal and Danny Latimer scored two goals each for the Vikings.

Five different players scored a goal for Newburgh, which scored all five of its goals in the second half. Newburgh’s Alex Hughes made 16 saves.

Connor Stafford scored three goals and had two assists as the Vikings opened the week with a 7-5 win over the Valley Central Vikings on April 17. Colin Kinsley added two goals. Julian Rodriguez and Brody Jurman added a goal each for the Vikings.

Dylan Butcher had two assists. Sherry and Antal had one assist each. Landon Santangelo made 14 saves.

Connor Fitzgibbon led the Crusaders with two goals and an assist, while Carson Pesce added two goals. Brian Sullivan scored one. Ryan Behringer had an assist, and Kyle Trinkle made 14 saves.

The Vikings had a week off before they paid a visit to the Washingtonville Wizards on Wednesday.
