Ward W. Tice, 83, of Middletown, NY (formerly of Pine Bush, NY) passed away on April 8, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family.
Ward was born in Walden, NY on November 20, 1940. He married the love of his life, Lorna Pettine Tice, on September 20, 1964. They had 62 wonderful years together.
Ward loved to travel, ski, enjoy music-filled nights, watch the NY Yankees, and spend his summers at Midway Beach in NJ with his beach family. He spent over 50 years in education as a biology teacher, high school principal and finished as a professor of Biology at Mount Saint Mary’s college in Newburgh, NY. In addition to Ward’s career in education, he was an active member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Thompson Ridge, NY and a member of the Middletown Elks Club.
For the last 17 years, he lived in the Wildflower Community in Middletown, NY and served on their board as well. Ward enjoyed a variety of things, but the most important thing to Ward was spending time with his family. Whether it was taking them to the crabbing pier or out dancing, he always made time for special family moments - and a “pint of plain”.
He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather to his two daughters Stacia Connors and husband Michael, and Sandra Tice and husband Warren Crosby. He adored his grandchildren Alexandra Turpin, Kelsey and Kyle Nicholson and his bonus grandchildren Calista and Gavin Connors, and Beth Savinelli.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Hospice of Orange County who helped Ward with incredible grace during his last days with his family. The family will have a private celebration of his life at a future date. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.wmgaganfuneralhome.com
