Vision of Wallkill will put on a “magical” 7th Annual Weekend of Wallkill on September 23 and 24.

The Lego Sculpture Building and Contest will kick off at the Wallkill Public Library on September 23 at 5 p.m., followed by the Fall Egg Hunt for children. The exhibition of the “Beauty of Wallkill” Art Show will open at 5:30 p.m. in the Shawangunk Town Hall lobby. All lay and professional artisans are welcome to submit their paintings, photographs and other works of art. The Plein Air art pieces will also be on display for viewing before Saturday’s Silent Art Auction. Friday evening will culminate with a yoga session at 6 p.m. followed by refreshments for yoga participants, artisans and viewers of the Art Show in the Town Hall lobby.  With the goal to keep it a beautiful and healthy Wallkill community, all health and fitness enthusiasts are encouraged to take part in the 30-Day Step Challenge by logging their progress. There are two date options to start your step log count.

The Weekend of Wallkill celebration continues Saturday, September 24 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. with a multitude of events, including the “Wizard Academy” show, the Plein Air Silent Art Auction, a scavenger hunt and petting zoo. New this year are Team Trivia, Remote-Control Car Race, Science Corner and Pickle Ball demonstration. Admission is free, and most of the events will take place on or around the Wallkill Public Library.

Children of all ages are encouraged to wear their wizardly or magical costumes. Bakers and floral enthusiasts can take prizes at the Apple Pie Baking and Floral Centerpiece Contests.  The public is also invited to stroll through the hamlet, visiting the Golden Rule Thrift Shop and the Quilt Show at the Wallkill Reformed Church.  End the day by dining alfresco at the Popp Memorial Park for a steak dinner hosted by Wallkill Lion’s Club.

Contest rules, applications and a full list of WOW events and other upcoming events will be available on VOW’s website at visionofwallkill.com or Facebook page.  If you have any questions or are interested in becoming a vendor at WOW, call/text 845-527-6230.
