In preparation for this week’s extreme weather heat, the City of Newburgh has designated the Activity Center as an indoor cooling center, and will also make the following resources available Tuesday – Friday (pending weather forecast) for residents to stay cool and safe:

- Ward 1: Tyrone Crabb Park & Audrey Carey Park splashpads (operational during park hours)
- Ward 2: Xavier Lunan Playground splashpad (operational during park hours)
- Ward 3: Open Hydrant on Walsh Road behind the Mullins Apartments (1 to 5 p.m)
- Ward 4: Open Hydrant on corner of Bush Ave and Third Street (1 to 5 p.m.)

The City will also open up the water truck at the corner of Broadway and Johnston Street between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday. Find a cool place, drink plenty of water, and make sure you check in on your family, friends, and neighbors.
