Town of Newburgh majors fall short of title

The Town of Newburgh Major baseball team had an amazing run but fell just one win short of a District 19 championship when they were beaten by Monroe-Woodbury in the championship game on Wednesday at Pine Bush Town Park.

After losing their first game of the tournament, Newburgh won seven straight games to reach the final championship game, where they suffered a 4-3 loss.

The Newburgh Nuclears American Legion baseball team continued to win at the Juniors level and the Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League season continued into second month.

Newburgh Nuclears 2, Clinton County 1
Logan Voltaire had two hits and two RBIs, lifting the Newburgh Nuclears to a win over the Clinton County Mariners on Wednesday at Delano-Hitch Stadium in Newburgh.
Gavin Rounds pitched five innings, allowing a run on six hits. He struck out three.

Majors Championship

Town of Newburgh 12, Goshen 10
Town of Newburgh scored nine runs in the last two innings and broke a 10-10 tie in the top of the seventh inning to eliminate Goshen from the tournament on July 7 at Tri-Valley Little League.
Goshen scored two runs in the first inning and six more in the third to take an 8-0 lead. Newburgh scored three runs in the fourth inning to get on the board, and Goshen added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 10-3 lead.
Newburgh scored seven runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 10-10, and force extra innings.

Town of Newburgh 8, Minisink 0

Town of Newburgh forced its way into the championship series with a win over Minisink Valley on July 8 at Pine Bush Town Park.
Newburgh scored single runs in the first and fourth innings and then added six runs of insurance in the top of the sixth to seal the victory.
They limited Minisink to five hits.


Town of Newburgh 5, Monroe-Woodbury 1

Town of Newburgh forced the decisive championship game with a win over Monroe-Woodbury on July 9 at Pine Bush Town Park.
Devin Prince doubled and drove in a run for Newburgh. He also started a double play to bail his team out of trouble. Johan Luis had a sacrifice fly, and Elias Rosario doubled home a run for Newburgh.

The run finally ended. Town of Newburgh’s seven-game winning streak ended in the championship game, as they suffered a loss to Monroe-Woodbury on Wednesday at Pine Bush Little League.
Monroe-Woodbury overcame a one-run deficit with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the walk-off victory.

Newburgh took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and second innings and Monroe-Woodbury tied it with two runs in the third. Newburgh retook the lead in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.
It stayed that way headed into the bottom of the fourth.

9U Division 4
Hudson Valley Hawks Orange 14, Hudson Valley Storm Blair 6

The Hudson Valley Hawks Orange scored six runs in the top of the first and the Hudson Valley Storm Blair never led in the game on July 7 at Town of Newburgh Little League.
The Storm closed the gap to one run in the second inning, but the Hawks scored three in the third and five more in the fourth to take command of the game.
The Storm was limited to five hits.

Hudson Valley Storm Blair 10, Beacon 10
The Hudson Valley Storm scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to battle the Beacon Bulldogs to a 10-10 tie on Wednesday at New Windsor Little League.

The Storm scored single runs in the first three innings before the Bulldogs tied the game with two runs in the fourth inning. They added four more in the fifth and three more in the sixth, taking a 10-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Hudson Valley Storm Diaz 3
The Mighty Marlins scored 10 runs in the second inning as they ran all over the Hudson Valley Storm Diaz on Friday at the Town of Newburgh Little League complex.
The Marlins scored four runs in the top of the first inning, and the Storm got one back in the bottom of the first inning.

After scoring 10 runs in the second, the Marlins scored four each in the next two innings. The Storm scored two more runs in the third.
The game was stopped after the fourth inning.

11U Division 3
Hudson Valley Select Gold 13,
East Fishkill Patriots 10

The Hudson Valley Select Gold scored six runs in the third inning to turn a five-run deficit into a one-run lead in a win over the East Fishkill Patriots on July 9 at East Fishkill Rec in Hopewell Junction.
The Select added two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-run lead.
The game was stopped after five innings.

12U Division 4
Hudson Valley Storm 7, Naturals 4

The Hudson Valley Storm scored a victory on July 7. Adam VanDalinda struck out 10 on the mound and has not given up a hit in 13 innings.
Johan Luis had three hits.

13U Division 1
N.Y. Leathernecks 12, Pine Bush Rebels 1
The Pine Bush Rebels Select took a one-run lead after the top of the third inning, but the Leathernecks scored seven runs in the third inning to take an 8-2 lead at Geering Field in Fishkill.

They scored four more in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the game via the 10-run rule. Pine Bush only managed three hits.

14U Division 3
Hudson Valley Storm One 11,
Rockland Elite Black 0
Ivan Menendez had two hits and two runs scored as Hudson Valley Storm shutout the Rockland Elite Black on Wednesday at Town of Newburgh Little League.

Julian Verlezza had a hit and an RBI. Danny Cuello, Ben Carrion and J.J. Alicea scored two runs each.
Lucas Algarin limited the Elite to one hit in a game that was called after five innings by the 10-run rule.

Hudson Valley Storm One 10, Elmsford 3
Noah Cheney had had three hits, drove in two runs and scored one as the Hudson Valley Storm beat the Bulldogs in a nine-inning game on Saturday at East Rumbrook Park.
Devon Pinto scored two runs and Ivan Menendez had two hits and three RBIs. J.J. Alicea had two runs scored, and Ben Carrion had a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Danny Cuello had two hits and two RBIs.

Hudson Valley Storm Two 12,
Mount Vernon Phillies 0
Christian Hines had a hit, two runs scored and two RBIs, leading the Hudson Valley Storm Two to a win over the Mount Vernon Phillies on Saturday at Town of Newburgh Little League.
Gavin Dabroski drove in two runs.
The Phillies had one hit.

15U Division 3
Pine Bush Rebels 4, Hudson Valley One 1
Timmy Trojahn had two hits and a run scored as the Pine Bush Rebels beat Hudson Valley One on Wednesday at Pine Bush Town Park.
Tommy Sciascia hit a double, scored a run and drove a run in for the Rebels. Liam Tuttle also drove in a run.
Braeden McConnell had a hit for Hudson Valley and a run batted in. Patrick Frawley had a hit and a run scored.

Hudson Valley One 20, Bombers 2
Three runs scored on an error as the Hudson Valley One won the first game of a doubleheader on their way to a sweep on Saturday at New Windsor Little League.
Patrick Frawley had three hits, including a double, scored two runs and drove in a run. Ben Totort had a hit and an RBI. Braeden McConnell had a hit, a run scored and an RBI. Tyler Ostrander had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Braydin Nicoli had two hits, including a double, two runs scored, and four RBIs as Hudson Valley wiped out the bombers in Game 2. Jackson Bradley singled, tripled and scored two runs and drove in a run. McConnell had a hit, three runs scored and two RBIS, while Dotort had two hits, including a double, two runs scored and three RBIs.

Hudson Valley Storm One beat Storm Two in the first game and the two teams battled to a tie in the second on Saturday at Delano-Hitch Stadium in Newburgh.
John Gore had three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI and Casey Vogel had two hits and three RBIs, and Xavier Vargas had a hit and an RBI for Storm One.
Mike Daley had a hit and wo RBIs for Storm Two.
Andrew Hollo doubled in a run for Storm Two in the second game and Tyler Valentin singled home a run for Storm One.
