Clintondale FD to host

boating safety course
New York State emphasizes water safety with its upcoming free Safe Boater Course scheduled for May 11, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clintondale Fire House, 1063 US-44, Clintondale.

Aimed at motorized boaters, this initiative is part of a statewide mandate requiring all boaters to obtain a safe boating certificate by 2025. The course, which covers essential boating skills and promotes courteous behavior on the water, is especially crucial for those born after Jan. 1, 1978, who must possess a boating safety certificate from 2024 onward.

Wallkill Scouts to host

new member info session
Excitement is building in the Wallkill School District as Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA gear up to welcome new members from grades K-5 and ages 10½-17 respectively.

An upcoming New Member Info Session is set to kick off on Saturday, May 11th, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Modena Methodist Church located at 1928 Route 44/55, Modena.

The event promises an action-packed day filled with outdoor activities, learning opportunities, and of course, fun. Boys and girls interested in trying new things, learning life skills, and becoming good citizens are encouraged to attend.
Newly registered Cub Scouts attending the event will receive a free fishing pole, adding an extra incentive for youngsters to join in the adventure.

For those aged 10½ to 17, Scouts BSA Troop 195, based in Modena, is ready to welcome new members to serve the Wallkill School District and surrounding areas.

Celebrate Mother’s Day
at Modena Fire House

Indulge in a delightful culinary experience this Mother’s Day weekend at the Modena Fire House. On Saturday, May 11, from 4 to 7 p.m., join us for an extravagant All You Can Eat Pasta Dinner, promising a feast fit for the whole family.

Located at 1953 Route 44/55, Modena, this event offers an array of delicacies including pasta, sausage, meatballs, salad, rolls, and delectable desserts. It’s an opportunity to savor the flavors of Italy right in your neighborhood.

Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 5 and up and for seniors aged 65 and above. Kids age 4 and under eat for free.

Highland Rotary to conduct
a Day of Service

The Highland Rotary Club is conducting a three-pronged “Day of Service” initiative on Saturday, May 18 by hosting a blood drive, coordinating a supply drive for care packages for deployed military troops, and engaging in a beautification project at the American Legion. May 18 is a significant date for the work as it is the Annual Rotary Day of Service where more than 800 Rotary Clubs, over 30,000 Rotarians, and thousands of volunteers spanning 10 states and five countries will also be conducting projects across the world.

Please help us get out the word about our blood drive and care packages for the troops. And stop by to see us on May 18th if you are in the area! It is Springfest in Highland, a wonderful day of community-building in the Town of Lloyd.

Registration to open for Marlborough Summer day Camp
Get ready for a summer of fun at the Marlborough Summer Day Camp, at Cluett Schantz Memorial Park! Registration is right around the corner, with sign-up days scheduled at the Town Hall.

Registration will take place Thursday, May 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, June 8, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Starting May 24, 2024, registration will also be available at the Town Hall Supervisor’s Office during regular business hours.

Here’s what you need to know:
• Children aged 5 ½ and up to 13 years old are welcome to attend.
• Important: Children must have completed Kindergarten before camp starts, with proof of attendance (a report card) required.
• Camp runs for five weeks, from July 1 to August 2, with week 1 pro-rated due to the 4th of July holiday.
• The cost is $150per child per week ($120 1, pro-rated), with an increased fee for non-residents and out-of-school-district children.

• Camp hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m..
Registration guidelines:
• Bring completed forms, child’s Birth Certificate or Passport, report card (for Kindergarten proof), recent immunization records, and medical records.
• Proof of residency is required.
• Payment is due at the time of registration (checks payable to Town of Marlborough; exact cash only).
• Only immediate family members can register their own children.
Don’t forget: Proof of Measles immunization must be provided at the time of registration.
