Upcoming Events at Plattekill Library
The Plattekill Public Library is gearing up for a summer full of exciting events for the community. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Summer Reading Program Kickoff The Summer Reading Program at the Plattekill Public Library will launch with an exciting and unique storytelling show called StoryFaces. In this event, volunteers are brought on stage and face painted to illustrate stories as Christopher tells them, captivating the audience with folktales and his animated original stories. Attendees can enjoy a free ice cream sundae and receive a book. The kickoff event is scheduled for Thursday, June 20, at 6 p.m. at the Plattekill Public Library. Registration is available online at Plattekill Library Events.

Water Safety Education Program On Thursday, June 27, Wings Over Water will present a fun, interactive water safety program for all ages. The program will include a Safety Smart video featuring Timon and Pumba, a dry land swim lesson covering the basics of breathing, buoyancy, shapes/postures, and safety, a “Simon Sez” coloring book, a Swim Safety Certificate for each student, and a Family Swim Day Pass to practice swimming together. Registration is required and can be completed online at Plattekill Library Events.

Free Zumba Classes The library will offer free Zumba classes on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. Zumba is a fun, energizing Latin-inspired dance workout. Participants are encouraged to bring sneakers and a friend. Registration is available online at Plattekill Library Events.

Storytime Miss Melissa will host Storytime on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m., where children can socialize, play, sing, listen to stories, and get creative with crafts. This event aims to spark children’s imagination and help develop early literacy skills. Registration can be completed online at Plattekill Library Events.

In July and August we will be traveling by bus to Riverview Inn in Matamoras, Pennsylvania for lunch and a show. Fee is $50 for members; $55 for nonmembers. We will also be having a picnic at the Thomas Felten Community Park in August.

Plattekill Golden Seniors meet in the Community Room beneath the Plattekill Public Library. They have changed their meeting dates as follows:

June 20, 2024 meeting is cancelled.

July 11, 2024 at 1 p.m. will be a regular business meeting.
