Marlboro’s 10U team wins District 3 championship

The Marlboro Dukes 9Ubaseball team won three straight District 3 tournament games to win the championship on June 30 at Young’s Field in Milton.

A week earlier, the 10U team won the District 3 championship and finished last week at the Eastern New York championship tournament in Altamont.

They won their first tournament game on Friday over East Fishkill, then lost games to CP Green, North Colonie and Guilderland.

Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League play continued last week.

Highland 13, Kingston 3
Highland opened the tournament with a 10-run win over Kingston.

Marlboro 10, Highland 5
Highland scored first, but Marlboro scored five runs in the third inning to take the lead as they opened the tournament with a win over Highland on June 29.
They added three more in the fourth inning to take an 8-2 lead. Highland scored a run in the top of the fifth, and Marlboro added two in the bottom of the fifth. Highland scored two more in the sixth.

Marlboro 11, Kingston 0
Marlboro scored in every inning except the third in a four-inning win over Kingston on June 29.
The game was called after four innings by the 10-run rule.
Marlboro scored three each in the first and fourth innings and scored five in the second.

Highland 15, Kingston 14
Highland outlasted Kingston on June 30 to finish the tournament with a 2-2 record.

Marlboro 11, Highland 0
The Dukes exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the second inning as they beat Highland for the second time on June 30.
The game was called after four innings by the 10-run rule.
The Dukes scored two in the third inning and Highland managed only one hit and made two errors.

Marlboro 8, Highland 5
The Dukes opened the tournament on June 20 with an 8-5 win over Highland.
With the game tied at 3-3 after three innings, Marlboro took the lead with a run in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth inning to take control. After Marlboro scored a run in the sixth inning, Highland scored two in the bottom of the inning.

Marlboro 15, Kingston 5
Marlboro followed with a 10-run win over Kingston in a game that was called after five innings by the 10-run rule.
Marlboro took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and scored five in the fifth inning to end the game.

Kingston 10, Highland 10
Highland trailed early but scored five runs in the sixth inning to force a seven-inning tie score on June 22.
Kingston scored six runs int eh third inning and Highland scored five in the sixth to force a tie.

Highland 11, Kingston 7
Highland scored seven runs in the third inning on their way to a win over Kingston in the second meetup between the two teams.
Highland took a 2-0 lead to start the game before Kingston took a 4-2 lead in the top of the third.
Highland took a 9-4 lead and never trailed again after the third inning.

Marlboro 17, Highland 8
Marlboro scored 12 runs in the third inning to lift themselves to the tournament championship with a second win over Highland.
Marlboro’s eruption broke a 3-3 tie after Highland scored three in the top of the third inning. Highland scored five in the fourth and Marlboro added two more in the bottom of the fifth.

Marlboro 6, East Fishkill 0
Marlboro opened the tournament with a win over East Fishkill on Friday in Altamont.

CP Green 7, Marlboro 1
Marlboro suffered its first loss of the tournament after falling behind 7-0 after the first three innings on Friday in Altamont.
Green scored a run in the first inning, two in the second and four more in the third inning to take control of the game.
Marlboro scored its lone run in the sixth inning. They managed only two hits and made an error.

North Colonie 12, Marlboro 1
North Colonie scored nine runs int eh fourth inning as they beat Marlboro on Saturday in a four-inning game called by the 10-run rule on Saturday.
Marlboro got its lone run in the fourth inning. They managed only three hits and made two errors.

Guilderland 8, Marlboro 5
Guilderland scored four runs in the third and three more in the fourth to hand Marlboro their second loss of the tournament on Saturday.
Guilderland took a 1-0 lead and Marlboro tied the game in the second and took a 2-1 lead in the third.
Guilderland took the lead for good in the bottom of the third inning. Marlboro got two in the top of the fourth, but Guilderland responded with three in the bottom of the inning.
Marlboro scored a run in the fifth.

Marlboro Mighty Marlins 13, Beacon Bulldogs 3
The Marlboro Mighty Marlins scored eight runs in the first two innings on their way to a 10-run win over the Beacon Bulldogs on July 2 at Young’s Park.
The Bulldogs got on the board with a run in the third and two more in the fourth. Marlboro finished the game with a run in the fourth and four more in the fifth.

Hudson Valley Storm One 4, Cortlandt Nationals 1
John Gore had two hits, a run scored and an RBI, as the Hudson Valley Storm One scored three runs in the first inning on their way to a win over the Cortlandt Nationals on Friday at Sunset Park in Cortlandt.
Dan Decker and Casey Voegel each drove in a run. Cooper Vogel had two hits.
