Marlboro senior thrower Juliana Juras finished her high school career on Friday and Saturday winning the state championship in the Division II girls’ discus throw at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship meet at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

Her third throw of 135-11 was good enough to win the championship. Her fellow senior and Marlboro teammate Victoria Maher finished fifth with a best throw of 125-11.

They both returned Saturday for the combined championship. Juras finished second with a best throw of 127-6 and Maher was fourth with a throw of 123-6.

Juras was third in the girls’ Division II shot put with a throw of 38-9.5, which set a new Marlboro High School record. She was sixth in the combined shot put on Saturday with a throw of 38-3.75.

Juras finished her high school career holding the school record in both the shot put and discus and as a two-time state champion in the discus throw. She is a three-time Section 9 shot put champion and a two-time discus champion. She has also won the Mid Hudson Athletic League discus and shot put championships three times each.

Sean Robertson finished 13th overall in the state when he cleared 14 feet. He finished fourth among Division II pole vaulters. Daniel Maher finished 14th in the boys’ Division II 200-meter dash with a time of 23.12 seconds.
