Several Marlboro High School National Honor Society students raised awareness and collected donations throughout the 2023-2024 school year for Breast Cancer Options, Inc. of Kingston, New York.

Breast Cancer Options, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the Hudson Valley and beyond with free services. These services include Camp Lightheart for children of breast cancer survivors, a retreat for women with metastatic breast cancer, massage and acupuncture services to help with treatment side effects, and their “Healthy Lifestyles” calendar containing hard-to-find information. Their services are unique in New York State and beyond. They can be reached at 845-339-HOPE (4673).

Marlboro Central School District retirees from the 2023-2024 school year were recognized during a Board of Education meeting on June 20. Congratulations to our Marlboro Elementary School Grade 5 students! Their accomplishments were celebrated during a Moving-Up Ceremony on June 25. We look forward to seeing you all at the Middle School next year. Until then, have a great summer!

Lunch & Learn for Seniors: Medicare 101
Tuesday, July 9, 12-2 p.m.
Learn all about Medicare during this lecture presented by Bob Meci, UCOFA Health Insurance Coordinator. This program is free to all Ulster County seniors aged 60 and over and includes a free lunch. Participants must register by July 1 by calling the Ulster County Office for the Aging at 845-340-3456. Space is limited; walk-ins may not be accommodated.

MFL Walking Club

Mountain Scene Wall Plaque
Wednesday, July 17, 6:30 p.m.
Join us at the Library on Wednesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. to paint a wooden plaque depicting a simple mountain view. Paint-by-numbers takes the guesswork out of this project, so you can focus on relaxing and creating something fun with good company. This craft session will be in person in the community room. Registration is required; spaces are limited. There is no Take & Make option for this program.

Weekly Recipe: Orange Tang Cake
• 1 1/4 cups cake flour
• 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 3/4 cup Tang powder
• 3/4 cup water
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/4 cup vegetable oil
• 1/8 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat an 8-inch round cake pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a medium mixing bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, Tang powder, and sugar. Stir in water. With an electric mixer, add remaining ingredients and mix until smooth. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack.
