Ribbon cutting at Marlboro Community Center

This week marked the ribbon cutting of the Town of Marlboro Community Center. The Marlboro Milton Seniors Club extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the building and opening of the center, including Tom Corcoran, Scott Corcoran, the Marlboro Highway Department, town employees, and the Town Board.

The Marlboro Milton Seniors Club also expresses gratitude to The First Presbyterian Church of Marlboro for hosting their Thursday meetings over the years.

Annual Flag Burning Ceremony
The Viebey-Sutton Post 124 American Legion and the local Cub Scouts held their annual Flag Burning ceremony on June 9. Congratulations to Karl Fred, the winner of the $500 scratch-off.

Library Events
• Local Author Talk: Linda Freeman Local resident Linda McCauley Freeman will read from her poetry collection, The Marriage Manual, at the Marlboro Library on June 27 at 7:00 p.m. The reading will be followed by a Q&A and book signing. RSVP at marlborolibrary.org; walk-ins are welcome.

• MFL Hook & Needle: Knitting & Crocheting Group Join us at the Marlboro Free Library for an informal knitting and crocheting meetup every 2nd and 4th Monday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. This group will meet on June 24, July 8 & 22, and August 12 & 26. RSVP at marlborolibrary.org; walk-ins are welcome.

• Vet2Vet Coffee Hour, Fridays at the Marlboro Library This Veteran Coffee Hour, organized in collaboration with Vet2Vet of Ulster County and the Hudson Valley Center for Veteran Reintegration, provides a space for veterans to connect and support one another. It meets on Fridays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Marlboro Library community room. Walk-ins are welcome.

School News and Events
• Senior Walk Members of Marlboro High School’s Class of 2024 returned to the Elementary and Middle Schools for the annual Senior Walk on June 12. The soon-to-be graduates were greeted by their former teachers and younger students, who lined the hallways with handmade signs and high-fives.
• MHAL Senior Scholar-Athlete Award Congratulations to Alex McAteer and Kalista Birkenstock, Marlboro High School’s recipients of the Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) Senior Scholar-Athlete Award. They were honored on June 10 in Kingston.

St. Mary’s Church Food Pantry
With summer break approaching, St. Mary’s Church food pantry needs donations to support families whose children will not have access to school meals. Non-perishable food items and financial contributions are appreciated. Please ensure food donations are unopened and not expired. Donations can be left in the designated baskets at the church.

Weekly Recipe: Rice Pudding
Ingredients:
• 1 quart skim milk
• 1/3 cup (heaping) rice
• 6-8 Tbsp. granulated sugar
• 1 tsp. vanilla extract
• Dash of salt
Methods/Steps: Cook uncovered and simmer for 40 minutes. Pour into a container, cover, and let sit at room temperature for a couple of hours. Sprinkle with cinnamon to taste. Serve immediately.
