24th Public Safety Sunday at Grace Baptist Church

This year’s Public Safety Sunday at Grace Baptist Church in Highland Falls, held on September 8, was a special celebration as well as an opportunity to honor the ambulance corps, firefighters, law enforcement, and public officials in our area.

“The congregation of Grace Baptist and friends in the area have been showing appreciation to our community emergency responders for 24 years with these special Sundays,” Pastor Andrew Snavely said. He emphasized the importance of “showing support with encouraging words and, most importantly, the promise of prayer when first responders go out on a call.”

For the special service, public safety personnel from many departments were recognized: Fort Montgomery Fire Department, Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps, Town of Highlands Supervisor Bob Livsey, the Town of Highlands Police Department, Montague Fire Department, New York State Park Police, and the New York City Police Department.

All the guests at the service were presented with a booklet - Prayers & Promises for First Responders - written by two veteran first responders, Adam Davis and Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, “to express our gratitude for each one’s service,” Snavely said.

Supervisor Livsey, as he does each year, had designated Sunday, September 8, 2024, as “Public Safety Sunday.”

Guest speaker was Evangelist Rich Tozour, who presented a message from 2 Kings 7 that describes the predicament of dying men who find amazing relief and share their good news with their community.

The service concluded with an extensive luncheon for those who attended.

“The church family of Grace Baptist trusts these public servants will long remember the appreciation of our community and our support in prayer,” Snavely said.
