The Cornwall Cleanup Crew, a grass-roots community organization created in 2023 to clean up illegally dumped trash along the roads of Cornwall and Cornwall-on-Hudson is proud to announce that, after an 18-month long process, they have earned their 501c3 non-profit certification.

Earning the 501c3 status was a goal from its creation and the group is proud of this milestone. This new status will help in serving Cornwall, Cornwall-on-Hudson, and Orange County in the Hudson Valley as the group grows to fulfill current needs and expansion into other communities. Also, as a non-profit, the group now has access to a wide variety of fund-raising opportunities, tax-free purchasing of needed supplies and the ability to spread their environmental messaging and education to prevent littering in the Hudson Valley.

If you don’t know what they do, the Cornwall Cleanup Crew has removed junk of all kinds, large and small, from the roadside and adjacent lightly wooded areas around the Town of Cornwall and Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. In its first year, the Cornwall Cleanup Crew logged more than 1,500 volunteer hours to collect over 10,000 tons of trash. The “Crew” is actively participating in local community events, and always looking for more volunteers to assist in cleaning up the community.

“When donating to the Cornwall Cleanup Crew, you can be assured that your monetary or in-kind contribution is directly used on local efforts that affect everyone in the community,” Founder Tracy Andrews said. “The Crew can now, upon request, provide a receipt thank you letter for use when filing yearly federal income tax returns.”
