As I promised about five weeks ago, here is the second installment of a document from the 1800’s which recorded the early Crawford families in Orange County. This is the second of what will probably be six or seven parts. I hope this does provide some information people have been searching for. It was written by Archibald Crawford who was born in 1780. He knew, or had first-hand knowledge of many of the individuals he wrote of. Enjoy! And for those of you who want to see more schoolhouses, old houses, road names, and interesting stories, please be patient. I’m trying to provide everyone things which they have requested. Samuel J. (father) departed this life Oct. 17, 1828 age 77 years 10 months. Member of the Presbyterian Church.

Moses died Sept. 18, 1835 age 59. Member of the Presbyterian Church.
Robert died June 10, 1838, age 52.
Jane died Jan. 7, 1827 age 35 years 9 months 5 days. Member of the Dutch Reformed Church.
Sarah died May 23, 1832 age 48.
Mary died Nov. 27, 1857 age 80. Member of the Dutch Reformed Church.

Deaths of their children:
Elizabeth Crawford departed this life Aug. 31, 1819. She was 3 months, 7 days old.
Robert Crawford departed this life Nov. 13, 1849 at 3 o’clock A.M. in the Odd Fellow’s Hospital at Settler’s Fort near the city of Sacramento, Calif. He died with dropsy on the chest as we were informed.
Moses A. Crawford departed this life at his residence in the city of New York Dec. 19, 1851, in the evening of that day. He was sick but a very short time – disorder, inflammation of the bowels. He was buried in the Cypress Hill Cemetery Long Island. Age
The twelfth child, Elizabeth was quite young when she died – 3 months, 7 days old. Archibald and Mary lost another child still younger, about 2 months old; it died in the year 1824. Both of said children we buried in the Crawford burying ground on the old farm belonging to Samuel J. Crawford.
