Several dozen local youngsters stopped by the Highland Falls Library on Saturday morning to enjoy a fun hour of making a variety of items – including crowns – out of balloons with Balloon Artist Gwendy Matthews, a Highland Falls resident. The children were all participants of the library’s annual Summer Reading Program. There were occasional ‘pops’ in the library’s Community Room, but for the most part, the kids took to the bending and twisting of the long, skinny balloons with ease. Mrs. Matthews has been entertaining, and teaching her skill, with balloons for nine years in a variety of area locations.
