Deacon Edward Robert Grosso, 79, of Maybrook, New York, went home to God on September 21, 2026. His passing came on his 58th wedding anniversary to his beloved wife, Barbara.

Edward was born in Bronxville, New York and raised in neighboring Tuckahoe. He and Barbara later made Maybrook their home for over 50 years.  Edward was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University. He was thrilled that his daughters, Stephanie and Carla, also graduated from his beloved alma mater. Edward remained an enthusiastic supporter of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies basketball team for over 60 years. This devotion occasionally exceeded his love for the San Francisco (formerly New York) Giants and New York Giants (who he originally watched with his father at the Polo Grounds).  Edward proudly served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He spent much of his professional life working in the insurance field and concluded his career as a Religious Education Coordinator.  Edward's life was deeply rooted in his Catholic faith. In 1993, after five years of formation, Edward was ordained into the permanent diaconate, assigned to his local parish Church of the Assumption in Maybrook. Additionally, he earned a Master's degree in Religious Studies from St. Joseph's Seminary. Over the years, Edward served his parish community in countless ways.  He joyfully assisted at the altar during masses, celebrated baptisms and marriages, presided at funeral services, and ministered to those who were sick, grieving, or in need. Edward spent
many years participating as a spiritual director in the Cursillo movement, served as a pastoral counselor to those struggling with addiction and was a certified bereavement counselor.

Edward’s good nature and sense of humor will live on in all who had the gift of knowing him.  Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara. He will be deeply missed by his daughters: Stephanie De Jesus, and her husband, Ed, Amy Grosso and Carla Bartz and her husband, Aaron. Edward was known as Grandpa to Joshua De Jesus and Stella Bartz. His grandchildren brought him great joy. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Suppa, as well as many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Jennie and Edward Grosso.
