Finella Sarchino

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, passed away July 16 at the age of 98 in Tustin, California. Finella Sarchino was born in Bitetto, Italy. She and our father exchanged overseas letters to each other for two years until they finally met in person in her hometown, where they married. Leaving the family she knew and loved to begin a new life with her husband in Brooklyn, NY, Finella took English classes there and became a citizen in 1959. They eventually settled in Cornwall-on-Hudson, remaining there until her husband’s passing in 1984, afterward relocating to Southern California. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church.

Finella was predeceased by her husband, Joseph D. Sarchino. She is survived by her daughter: Virginia Katz (Randy) of Irvine, CA; and by her son: Joseph J.
Sarchino (Darlene) of Cornwall, NY; by her grandchildren: Jason Katz of Dallas, TX, Warren Katz of Los Angeles, CA, Allison Sarchino of Beacon, NY, and Amanda Sarchino of New York, NY; and by her nieces and nephews and extended family in the United States and Italy.

Finella had a courageous, fearless spirit and let love of family be her guiding path throughout her life. Her vibrancy, strength in adversity, and joy will be a blessing and inspiration to her family always. She will be deeply missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3 rd at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY.

Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall, NY.
