On Saturday, September 12, the Village of Montgomery will host General Montgomery Day, the municipality’s biggest event. Established by former Mayor Steve Brescia over 30 years ago, this all-day celebration features ample food, games, music, and vendors.
St. Mary’s Church Knights of Columbus will kick off the day with free continental breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., numerous vendors will occupy Union and Clinton Street, offering various antiques, crafts, and food to attendees. A parade will line up at 9:30 a.m. and take off at 10:30 a.m., followed by speeches and presentations at the event’s viewing stand.
Children can enjoy several activities in Veterans Memorial Park starting at 11 a.m., including bounce houses, pony rides, and a 4-H petting zoo. Attendees can also take independent helicopter rides between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.; rides will cost $80 per person.
For music, attendees can listen to live performances at Veterans Memorial Park. The Mustangs will perform between 12 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., Good Vibes will perform between 1:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., the Blackdirt Bandits will play between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Iron Cobra will play between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. The event will conclude with a fireworks display in the park starting at 8:30 p.m.
