On September 14, at approximately 6:37 p.m., troopers assigned to State Police Ellenville responded to a report of a possible drowning in Vernooy Kill Creek, off Lundy Road in the town of Wawarsing.

Owen Garrison, age 47, of Highland, was located in the creek and extricated by members of the Napanoch Fire Department. Garrison was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Napanoch Fire Department, Ellenville Emergency Medical Services, and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
