Jose A. Vega of Walden, entered into rest on Monday, September 14, 2026. He was 94.

Son of the late Jose and Serapia (Machado) Vega, he was born September 3, 1932 in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico.

Jose or “Vega” as he was known by many was a retired owner and operator for many years, along with his wife, of Villa Sunny Acres in Plattekill, NY. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Known for his strong work ethic, during the winter months he would run restaurants in New York City. Devoted to his family, he was also very loyal to his friends and anyone in need.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Maria E. Vega; three sons, Gilberto Vega of Lake Worth, FL, Jose M. Vega of Bronx, NY and Daniel Vega of Middletown, NY; a daughter, Meryn Vega of Walden, NY; a brother, Ramon, Machado of Barceloneta, Puerto Rico; a sister, Minerva Vega of Bronx, NY; six grandchildren, Amaris C. Berrios, Ashley A. Berrios, Brianna M. Vega, Jacob M. Mota, Isabella D. Schimpf and Sofia E. Vega; seven great grandchildren, Julianna Hall, Wayne Pope, III, Natalya M. Mota, Ariadne Skirianos, Greysen Molloy, Cloud A. Deveaux and Elias Pope; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Gilberto Vega and two sisters, Hydee Vega and Aurea Vega.

Private cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Crematory.
