Library to host a free performance skills workshop

School News/Events: Marlboro Middle School will host an orientation for Grade 6 students and new students, along with their parents, on Thursday, August 29. To ensure ample time for questions and concerns, there will be two sessions:

Students with last names A-L: 8:30 a.m. in the Band Room.

Students with last names M-Z: 10:30 a.m. in the Band Room.

Marlboro Free Library Hook & Needle: Knitting & Crocheting Group Join us at the Marlboro Library for an informal meetup on select Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for knitting and crocheting enthusiasts to socialize, share tips and work on projects together. Please note, this is a self-led group; no guided instruction or supplies will be provided. Meetings are on August 12, 19 and 26. RSVP at marlborolibrary.org. Walk-ins welcome.

August Book Club Meeting: The Marlboro Library Book Club will meet on Wednesday, August 28, at 7 p.m. to discuss The Comfort of Crows: A Backyard Year by Margaret Renkl. Copies are available for pick-up at the circulation desk. RSVP at marlborolibrary.org. Walk-ins welcome.

Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library Performance Skills Workshop Does your child enjoy performing magic or clowning around? Join us on August 20 at 7 p.m. for a Performance Skills Workshop. Jackie will teach basic stage skills, including ventriloquism, magic, and more! This workshop is for children ages 6 and up. Registration is required, and seating is limited. Register online at this link. The Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library’s artist-led workshops are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

Weekly Recipe:
Butter Brickle Bars

Ingredients:
Club Crackers
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions:
Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and place a single layer of club crackers on the sheet.
Cook butter and brown sugar for 3 minutes. Pour over crackers and bake for 5 minutes at 400°F.
Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the butter and sugar layer.
Let cool and cut into even pieces.

Milton Engine Company No. 1 Annual Lobster & Steak Bake: Saturday, August 24, from 3 to 7 p.m. Enjoy all-you-can-eat steak, clams, corn on the cob, salad, and more. Tickets are $100 and include a 1 ¼ lb. lobster, live entertainment, a 50/50 raffle, and a basket of cheer.
